It was an exciting day for us last week when the fence finally went up. We have never had a proper fence at any of our homes and I could not be more excited about it!
It was a bit of a process, as Im sure it is for anyone making such a large purchase. But for me it was all about the design. I knew I wanted something more "New England" and to be honest it wasn't only what the fence would look like on its own, but what it was going to look like when there are giant snowball hydrangea's framing it along the street.

the other thing that we wanted was for the fence to actually fit in to the sides of the posts and we wanted larger than standard posts. This larger than "standard" post request seemed to always be followed with a "thats not standard ma'am" response but we still ended up with them in the end. Thankfully Im starting to follow my instincts when it comes to what I want regarding our home. So many times I hear "this is why you can't do this, or most people don't do it that way" but Im getting better at doing it my way anyway, and Im always happy with the results. So I guess the lesson here is..stick to your guns when it comes to your design decisions because after all, you are the one who will be living with those decisions in the end!
Here she is and we are so happy with her! Such a pretty fence! The last but not least task is to paint her. Not a job Im dying to do but it will be lovely, I'm sure of it!
We need a full week of dry weather before we can prime and with the large amounts of rainfall we've been getting that doesn't seem likely anytime soon. Oh well. Brian and I could probably use a little DIY break anyway!
